Is a heat pump worth it on the Costa del Sol?
For hot water, almost always, if you currently use an electric water heater or gas bottles. A heat pump water heater uses a fraction of the electricity of an immersion heater, and it can heat the tank at midday on solar. For space heating, it suits larger homes with underfloor heating or radiators.

An all-in-one heat pump water heater replaces a standard electric termo. It heats the tank by taking heat from the surrounding air, and we set it to run when your panels are producing. For a household that uses a lot of hot water, it is one of the quickest paybacks in the house.

For villas with underfloor heating or radiators, an air-to-water heat pump can provide heating, hot water and in some cases cooling from one outdoor unit. We size it from the heated area, insulation and hot water demand, and look at the electrical supply.
