Does my roof have to face south?
No. South is best for total output, but east and west roofs work well here and spread production through the day. Shade matters more than direction.
Tiled pitched roofs
We use roof hooks fixed under the tiles and replace any broken tiles. Old roofs should be checked before installation.
Flat roofs
Panels go on tilted frames, ballasted or fixed, with spacing to avoid rows shading each other. The membrane must stay watertight.
Terraces, carports and pergolas
Where the main roof is limited, a solar carport or pergola can add useful capacity and shade.
Shade
Chimneys, parapets, trees, neighbouring buildings and hillsides. We check shade at different times of year. Microinverters or optimisers limit the impact on the rest of the system.
Cable route and equipment position
The inverter and battery need a ventilated, accessible position, ideally out of direct afternoon sun.
